Step up to profit – genetics, nutrition, education
Maureen's degree in genetics from UC Davis plus Larry's
degree in accounting from Chico State give a unique dimension to our ranch. We have experience in animal nutrition from years of working for a major research facility.
We have made it a point to attend clinics, webinars and seminars sponsored by other ranches and associations... We would be pleased to tailor a clinic or talk to suit your needs, or to help you find the clinic that will!
Larry is quite good at setting up a working barn and fencing designed to make chores faster and easier to do. Which gives more time to watch a growing herd. Need help designing a small ranch? Call us for assistance, the name “Mini Acre” doesn’t only apply to our miniature horses.
In addition to teaching chemistry and physics, Maureen is a Yearbook advisor. Photography is a hobby - and alpacas make great subjects. Maureen has also assisted show photographers, gaining more insight into how to capture images of alpacas.
We are both Turlock, California natives. Larry grew up on a dairy and has farmed products from hay to turkeys. Maureen lived in town, but spent many hours on her Grandpa's farm and especially enjoyed helping with the livestock. Grandpa’s talks while performing chores together often included ideas of raising something besides horses, cows, pigs, rabbits and chickens – like ostriches or buffalo…while he kept to the traditional, it stirred the imagination. Both families have been in the Turlock area for several generations.
We dated in High School and college and are now following our mutual dream to live a ranching lifestyle; one which uses our varied skills and educational backgrounds.
